June 10, 2026 — Tata Steel announced a $11.8B iron ore expansion, equipping Noamundi and Joda mines with high-gradient electromagnetic separators (HGMS).

Goal: Recover iron from low-grade ore and slime, supporting 55 Mt/year steel output and boosting raw material self-sufficiency.
Specs: Superconducting magnet + multi-stage field design, 18,000 GS intensity, optimized for fine weak-magnetic particles.
Related orders: Large-volume drum magnetic separators and permanent grate magnets for pre-sorting; total order value >$120M.
